This news of criminal charges filed against a local Milwaukee attorney is disheartening.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office recently filed a multi-page criminal complaint against Milwaukee attorney, Robert Menard who may have handled worker’s compensation and personal injury cases. Prosecutors allege that Menard engaged in theft or fraud against victims including his clients and a business partner.
The allegations come in addition to a pending disciplinary complaint with the State Supreme Court’s Office of Lawyer Regulation.
It is important to note that Menard has not been found guilty of any criminal charges and is presumed innocent. However, there is no question that the charges are a serious matter. Further, the allegations against Attorney Menard may be perceived as reflecting poorly on other attorneys and diminish public trust in the legal profession.
